Upcoming Hyperion Upgrade

The upgrade to the new hosted Hyperion environment is coming soon. We are currently working on moving our Hyperion software into a hosted environment provided by Sierra Cedar.  We still have a lot of testing to do, but hope to go live sometime in December.  An ‘Upgrade FAQ’ article has been created which should address a variety of questions that you might have at this point: KB0013698.

Revised HR Expenditures Report

The newly revised “HR Expenditures” prebuilt report is now available to HR users.   This revised report provides filters for pay end date, account, position number or emplid and no longer contains those high maintenance union queries.

This report replaces both the ‘HR Expenditures by Emplid’ and the ‘HR Expenditures by Account’ reports.  If anyone still wants to use those older versions, they have been moved into the ‘Deprecated Queries’ folder and renamed with a ‘Historic’ prefix.

To request our services, simply go to:https://asu.service-now.com/ess/catalog_content.do?sysparm_content_url=com.glideapp.servicecatalog_cat_item_view.do?sysparm_id=671c4aea3d7b110047cd2eb67a2c3041 (you may be prompted to login).

My Reports Open Office Hours

Due to fluctuating attendance and the implementation or our new toolsets, our offering on “My Reports Open Office Hours” will no longer be available in person.  We will now be offering this service through remote sessions using Adobe Connect.

To attend remotely, visit https://connect.asu.edu/openofficehours/.  Click the radial button next to “Enter as a Student or Guest”, type your first and last name in the “Name” box and click ENTER ROOM.   Once you have logged into the room, we will provide you with a call in number.

This change will be effective immediately starting this Thursday, 6/26/2014.  At this time, this is still offered on Thursday afternoons between 1-4 pm but be sure to check our training page at http://asu.edu/it/eds/training for availability updates.

Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this upcoming change.

Thanks,

Internet Explorer Vulnerability -- UPDATE

A patch has been issued for the Internet Explorer vulnerability that caused the ban of its use, impacting My Reports / Hyperion users.
Depending on your computer’s configuration and update policy, this patch may have been installed on your computer.
If this patch has been installed, you may return to using Internet Explorer.

Below is a way to identify if the security update (KB29464358) has been applied to your computer:

Through the Control Panel
1.    Go to Control Panel> System and Security> Windows Update
2.    If you don’t see “Windows is up to date”,  click on ‘Check for updates’

4.    If important updates are available, apply them.
5.    To confirm which updates have been installed, click on the “View update history’ link.
a.    If it indicates that Windows is up to date, you can verify by clicking “Check for updates”

Internet Explorer Vulnerability

My Reports users can access Hyperion through My Apps.  You can get into My Apps with Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Within My Apps, the IE8 browser is safe because it can only get to the Hyperion address and cannot access any other site.

There is also a downloadable application that is an unofficial workaround that can also be used to access My Reports.  This application uses a locked down version of Firefox 2 within it.  Please keep in mind that this FF based application was not created by UTO so it has little or no support and may not successfully install on all machines.

Individuals should also change their default browser setting when accessing links.  Below are the instructions on how to change your default browser:
Type "default programs" in the Start menu (bottom left of your screen) search box. This should bring up a screen that will let you select program defaults as well as default file types. You'll want to set your favorite web browser as the default, which should force it to open your email links. If that still doesn't work, select "Associate a file type or protocol with a program" and associate ""URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol" with your web browser of choice. Repeat for file types "HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy" and FTP.

If you need assistance in configuring My Apps, please send an email to myreports@asu.edu.

Thanks for your patience until the Internet Explorer is resolved.

Upcoming SPONSORED proposal table changes

In support of the new Click research administration software being implemented by OKED, we’ll be making column length changes to some tables in the SPONSORED database in E1 to integrate the new Click data.  The changes will be in production within a couple of weeks, and the tables affected and their changes are listed below.  We don’t expect any issues with reports within My Reports, but if you have customized applications or other direct access to these database tables, those applications might be affected.

Please contact datawarehouse@asu.edu with questions or concerns about this change.
